Fill about a third of the bag with sugar. If you need more than that, you can repeat the process since it is so quick!

Drop a few drops of food coloring into the bag.  For a rich color, I usually add 4-5 drops. You can do more or less depending on preference. If you want light colors, try one drop first.

Close the bag. Don’t force all of the air out of it as this will give the sugar some room to move.

Shake and kneed the bag, mixing the food coloring into the sugar. Make sure it distributes evenly throughout the bag. Knead and break up and clumps that form.

When all of the sugar is evenly colored, lay the bag on it’s side and spread out the sugar. Open the top of the bag and let it sit for about 20 minutes, giving the food coloring a change to dry.
