Fun Fall Bucket List

Fall is my favorite season, hands down.  Even though we live in Florida where the idea of changing Fall Bucket Listseasons is laughable, I still love it. I over do it with decorations, try to take in as much of the seasonal festivities as possible, and try to soak up as much of the season as I possibly can before Thanksgiving comes and we start the Holidays excitement.

My husband and I go back and forth about how early we can start the festivities. I start pulling boxes down and decorating as soon as September starts while he always wants to wait until closer to the middle to end of September. We came to a new agreement this year, though.  Once Starbucks starts selling Pumpkin Spice, I can start decorating. Now I have two reasons to anxiously count down the days to pumpkin-y goodness.

I’ve put together a fall bucket list of the things I want to do this year. Some are things that I do every year and some are things that are brand new!

Pumpkin Carving Chili Day

Every year my family picks a day to visit the pumpkin patch and carve pumpkins. We get the whole family together and meet at the pumpkin patch bright and early. Our local pumpkin patches are usually put together by church groups, so they have hay rides, shops of handmade items and baked goods, and photo op spots. We stop and get coffees then spend a while enjoying ourselves while picking out the perfect pumpkins (one for each house).  We buy homemade baked goods then head back to my house. My mom and I make chili for a late lunch, and we spend the day carving our pumpkins, eating sweets, and watching spooky movies.  It is one of the yearly traditions that has become special for us now that all have our own houses.

Fall Bucket List

Trunk or Treat

I have always wanted to decorate my car for Trunk or Treating.  If you’re unfamiliar with the concept, Trunk or Treating is when a parking lot full of cars opens their trunk or back hatch and decorates it with a theme, then kids can walk up and down the rows with their parents and Trick or Treat out of the cars instead of having to go house to house. It is usually a safer alternative to trick or treating, especially if you live in a more rural area or any place you may not feel comfortable having your kids collect candy the traditional way.

I really want to participate this year and decorate my car for Trunk or Treating. I think it’s a great way for younger kids to collect candy!  I’m going to be looking for a Trunk or Treating event in my area and come up with a fun idea!

Fall Festival

This is another yearly event for us. I absolutely love Fall Festivals. There are usually a couple of different festivals held around us every year and we pick one to go to. The locals festivals are usually held by smaller businesses or local churches and the proceeds usually support a charity or the church. The company I work for also throws one every year as a thank you to the employees.

Between the caramel apples, hay rides, haunted trails, and activities, it is a really fun way to spend an afternoon. Sometimes there are rides, and often times they have cover bands playing songs everyone can sing along to.

Fall Bucket List

Sew A Costume From Scratch

I bought my first sewing machine as a birthday present to myself about 4 months ago. I bought it with the intention of teaching myself how to sew.  Well, I’ve gotten the basics down so my new goal is to go big or go home. I want to sew a Halloween costume for myself from scratch. I’ve created a lot of costumes over the years, but they are mainly just altering things I own and pairing different accessories to make new looks.  This year, I want something totally different and totally made by me.

Make Fall Dog Bandanas

I’ll be posting a tutorial soon on the cute dog bandanas I started making as a way to hone the basic sewing skills that I mentioned above.  I want to make the dogs in my life cute fall and Halloween themed bandanas!  This isn’t a huge goal, but is a cute project!
